How the ACTION Promo Works

Keep in mind that Christmas is just an example of when you can use your first bet insurance. Your first bet balance can be applied to any other bet before the specified expiration date.

Waging With First Bet Insurance

Place a minimum bet of $10 to qualify for BetMGM's first bet insurance up to $1,000.

As an example, I'll place a $10 bet on the Arizona Cardinals moneyline against the Tampa Buccaneers at 8:20 p.m. ET. If the Cards win, you'll profit $19 (since they're +290 on BetMGM's moneyline odds) and you'll get $29 in bet credits.

If Arizona ends up losing, you can still use the bet credits you earn from this part of the promotion.

Using the Bet Credits

As a recommendation, aim to use your bet credits on plus-money wagers since it maximizes your expected value significantly.

For example, if I choose to place my first free bet on Josh Kelly to score a touchdown (+200) for the Fins.

  • If Kelly scores and the free bet wins, I'll profit $100 ($50 x 2.0).
  • On the other hand, if Kelly doesn't score, you simply lost your free bet.

That's why the bet credits are great to make — it's very low in risk with the potential to make a profit.  This is why we recommend making plus-money bets even if they tend to lose, because your net profit will be somewhat considerable.

Christmas Bets to Make

Brandon Anderson: Green Bay Packers +4.5 Spread

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers may have a shot at the playoffs after all. Sitting at 6-8 and 2-0 in December, the momentum has certainly risen for Green Bay.

In order for their playoff chances to dramatically increase, the Lions, Commanders, and Seahawks would all need to lose most (if not all) of their games moving forward.

Furthermore, the Fins  are the fifth-best offensive team (370.1 yards per game) and third in passing yards (273.6 yards per game).

Overall, the the Packers are 2nd in passing yard defense and thirteenth in defensive rank.

Miami is currently sitting at 7th in the AFC with six teams (Jets, Pats, Steelers, Jaguars, Raiders, and Browns) in striking distance. The Fins are also 0-3 in December and in danger of going winless in their first calendar month of the season.

There's not doubt that Tua Tagovailoa can lead the Fins to victory here, but ultimately the Christmas stage is set for Aaron Rodgers to show that he still has what it takes to lead the Packers into the playoffs.

*Quick stat: Aaron Rodgers is 2-0 in Christmas Day games, with this last victory coming over the Cleveland Browns last season.

The Pick: Green Bay (GB) +4.5

The Dolphins have lost their last three games — all at the hands of playoff-bound teams on the road. This time around, the Fins are at home where they have gone 5-1 until this point.

BetMGM has the Dolphins at -250 tonight, and within reason. The Fins have a three-game winning streak at home and are coming off an impressive performance against the Buffalo Bills on the road. They do, however, have a three-game losing streak and are up against a more experienced quarterback and Packers team.

Expect this matchup to be a close one.

Boston Celtics vs. Milwaukee Bucks

Both offense and defensive juggernauts are the top-two teams in the Eastern Conference. This is perhaps a preview to an Eastern Conference Finals matchup.

As of today, both teams are neck and neck for the #1 seed in the East — with the Bucks holding a 23-8 record to the Celtics' 24-9 record.

Robert Williams III made his return from his torn meniscus ahead of schedule, so at least he played a few games to work his way into playing shape. The Time Lord will give Boston a major boost on the defense end despite being an undersized center — even against one of the tallest teams in the NBA.

Both teams have excelled so far, as they missed key starters Khris Middleton and Robert Williams III for most or the entire season up until this point.

Besides being one of the matchups this season, the key to success this game his how the dynamic duos of both teams perform on both ends of the floor.

The Pick: BOS -4

BetMGM has the Celtics at -4 and the Bucks at +4.5 heading into today's juggernaut matchup, which is expected because of Boston's excellent 13-4 home record and Milwaukee's 10-5 road record.

With the return of Robert Williams III and the Celtics at full strength, we'll go with Boston because they have performed better at home than the Bucks have on the road this season.
