PointsBet New York Review Summary
  • Bonuses & Promotions

The sign-up offer at PointsBet — up to $1,000 in Bonus Bets — is in line with the rest of the industry. But where PointsBet stands out is on event-specific promotions throughout the year. They regularly do "crowd boosters," where a spread will move a point every 100-200 bets taken by the book, which quickly turn into easy wins.

  • Mobile App & Website

PointsBet has one of the best sleekest apps and websites among all U.S. books, and they do a great job of displaying the most popular markets and best daily promotions for bettors. The experience is better on the mobile app than on the web, which can get a little busy with all of the different markets.

  • Registering & Cashiering

We haven't had any issues signing up, depositing or withdrawing funds from PointsBet. They offer fewer payment options than other books, although users can still use credit cards, online banking, PayPal, and a variety of other methods depending on the state. PointsBet is a trusted and regulated sportsbook in NY so you don't have to worry about your money.

  • Betting Options

PointsBet NY offers odds on all major markets, but also has extensive secondary markets like props, unique futures and more. They also allow users to request bets — their "Name a Bet" function — so if you want to wager on a market that doesn't exist, just shoot them a message and they'll work with you on it. What more could you ask for?

Although PointsBet was created in Australia, they have been making their mark on the U.S. market since 2019.

Logging In

PointsBet has a very average sign-in process. While PointsBet is able to remember email addresses for a quicker sign-in, the iPhone AutoFill feature was hit-or-miss. PointsBet also emails bettors every time they log-in to the app, which some may find unnecessary. This feature can was quickly solved when we found a on/off toggle option in the settings.

Bet Slip

PointsBet’s bet slip does not generate a parlay automatically when users select multiple bets. To combine odds, New York bettors must select “Start a Parlay” which feels like an unnecessary step. For users making quick bets, a half-screen bet slip will appear but if you click out of it to look at other lines, the bet slip will not be saved and you will have to repeat the process.

PointsBet offers exceptional in-game navigation with a great design and very quick load times. PointsBet does have a vast number of player props on the menu but it takes a bit of time to search all the way down and could definitely be streamlined better. The home screen of the app is standard and has a great menu to help New York bettors select the wagers they are looking for and to explore others that may interest them.

Data Density

Trying to make a quick bet in the massive NY sports market needs to have ample data density, or the amount of information that can fit on a mobile app's screen at once. We tested using an iPhone 12 Pro to determine game density rankings in the mobile view on iOS. We saw that FanDuel showed 4.5 games, BetMGM & DraftKings showed 4 games, and PointsBet & Caesars showed only 3 games at a time.

Ultimately, PointsBet falls at the bottom of the pack regarding game data density. Here's a detailed chart of each sportsbook's game density.

    Spending Controls

Most legal sportsbooks have self-imposed limiting controls, and PointsBet is no different. These are effective ways to stop yourself from betting too much if it’s becoming a problem or being proactive about setting healthy limits for yourself. We recommend configuring whatever setup helps you maintain responsible boundaries and educate yourself. The controls offered include:

    • Pre-commitment limits: Set a limit on how much you can deposit in 1, 7, or 30 days.
    • Self-exclusion: Stop yourself from betting during a specific period or permanently.
    • Cool-off period: Stop yourself from accessing the site or app for a specific time.

In addition to the PointsBet-provided resources, The Action Network has developed bankroll management educational materials to help ensure bettors have fun and establish sustainable behavior.

PointsBet New York Betting Options & Sports Market Coverage star star star star star

PointsBet does not always offer unique betting markets, but it will be reliable when searching for common sports betting markets.

    Sports Market Coverage

PointsBet has not been the type of sportsbook to introduce a brand new sports betting market (or events) or even post bet lines before any other book. Although PB is not a leader in this regard, their odds are always considered competitive and trustworthy.

    Available Bet Types

When using PB, users can find common spreads, moneylines, and more unique and exclusive bet types. Aside from offering these standard bet types, PointsBet also offers their own exclusive betting options, which are called "PointsBetting" and "Bet Multipliers."
